Excerpts from the 2014 Gaetan Royer for Mayor Campaign website
Urban Planner  ●  Business Owner  ●  Experienced CEO  ●  Published Author  ●  Community Leader

Clear Choice.  The two candidates for Mayor present completely different visions for Port Moody's future.  More...

Taxes. City taxes are tied to the city's choices: there is a huge difference between our residential and business tax base.  More...

Transportation.  Port Moody seems to have given up on several important priorities. The outgoing mayor failed to put the city in a strong position to move forward with several long-standing projects.  More...

Soccer and sports fields. It's time to turn the piece of gravel that is Inlet Field into a decent sports field.  More...

Arts & Culture. As City of the Arts, Port Moody defined itself as a sophisticated city where residents and businesses value the higher things in life: culture, creativity and the arts. Gaetan played a role in the cultural strategic plan that led to the City of the Arts designation.  More...

Police, Fire and Emergency Services.  These important services are under stress due to a variety of factors. The Port Moody Firefighters decided to endorse Gaetan as Mayoral candidate of choice. See Port Moody Firefighters' recommended candidates here...

Customer Service.  A city needs to be run like a hospitality business. Staff need to be inspired to provide top level service. By returning to basics of what it means to be a civil servant, Mayor, Council and senior staff can set a high customer service standard for the entire organization.

Environment.  We need Port Moody to become an environmental leader again. This includes strong action to protect Burrard Inlet. Derelict boats, industrial spills and shoreline protection are all important issues where the city needs to hold other agencies accountable.

Community Groups.  Council cancelled the community grants. This has proven self-defeating in that community groups are not as well equipped to assume important public responsibilities. It is time to re-introduce community grants for one-time funding of capital projects and initiatives that improve the capacity of non-profit organizations.

Inter-Governmental Relations.  For the sake of harmonious relations, Port Moody has been rolling over and playing dead. Rather than make excuses for the inaction of other agencies, a strong leader communicates in a way that commands attention.  See video below to hear about Gaetan's commitment to stand up for Port Moody.
