Above are images illustrating the types of employers and building investments that would be attracted to Moody Centre.
Just imagine stepping across Moody Street at the East end of Clarke Street, where a beautifully landscaped pedestrian plaza welcomes you. Then, as you meander east toward the Moody Centre SkyTrain station, you walk past low-rise buildings, each with a unique architectural signature but all of them unified by a clear theme. A large grocery store is designed like a hidden box retail, its facade broken up by storefront boutiques (similar to Thrifty's design in Suter Brook) and its size partially hidden below grade. Along the pedestrian spine running west to east are funky live-work studios where artists, craftsmen and craftswomen display their wares. At night these studios provide eyes on the street which are key for people to feel safe. There are just enough restaurants and boutiques to animate the street but not so many that existing Moody Centre businesses suffer. In fact there is such a critical mass of daytime workers that Moody Centre shops now thrive with plentiful daytime shopping. A CGI animation design studio has brought an influx of young professionals to Moody Centre. Many of the workers choose to live in coach-houses in Moody Centre; many purchase apartments in low-rise buildings in Moody Centre. Employers enjoy easy access to a large pool of workers commuting into Moody Centre's regional transit hub: the convergence of the WestCoast Express, SkyTrain and bus loop. In addition, there are two pedestrian overpasses providing easy access to and from Rocky Point Park and the vibrant businesses located along Murray Street. Just imagine.
