“The recreation centre is at capacity, the library needs to be expanded, Rocky Point Park is beyond capacity so this OCP is going to make things worse,” Royer told The Tri-City News. “Our roads can’t handle more traffic. This is the wrong form of development.”

Vote Sat. Nov. 15
A Port Moody resident for the past 14 years, Gaetan Royer has a passion for our beautiful city and a strong commitment to lead our community forward. Gaetan wants to share his clear vision.
It's about vision
Gaetan wants to share his clear vision of what it takes to ensure Port Moody maintains its character. Gaetan offers a better plan to protect Port Moody’s future. “I am concerned that our Official Community Plan has been stripped of the kind of measurable pieces that protect our taxpayers’ interests.” said Gaetan Royer who seeks to lead Council as Mayor of Port Moody. “We need a better plan.” The plan adopted by the outgoing Mayor and Council 4 weeks before this election focuses the bulk of our growth in condo towers in Moody Centre. This will cripple our roads and burden recreation facilities and parks that are already at capacity. It makes no sense. As Mayor, Gaetan will protect the interests of Port Moody residents. He will focus on jobs. He will set clear limits in a better community plan that protects environmentally sensitive lands. Gaetan will work with partners to achieve better transportation in the Tri-cities and expand Rocky Point Park. When asked to clarify how he would develop a better plan, Royer said: “Port Moody residents want a leader who can connect the dots. They want Council to ensure that transportation, parks, amenities and jobs are part of a plan that protects their interests and safeguards the environment. We've seen a lot of residential growth now jobs have to catch up.” An expert who knows how cities work, Gaetan is a proven leader who brings people together, communicates effectively and inspires action. And he has vision. |
A Leader who takes action
Action on the Economy We need action to build a strong local economy and support local businesses. But our city needs to lead by example and support our local economy by spending our tax dollars right here in Port Moody. We also need a Mayor with a plan to recruit new businesses and good paying local jobs to our city while reducing commute times. We need a Mayor to take action on building our local economy. Protect the Environment Port Moody is a beautiful place and we need to protect our environment. We all want clean air and clean water but we also need action to protect and support our parks. We need a Mayor who will take action to expand Rocky Point Park so we, and future generations, have green spaces to live and play in. We need a Mayor who will protect our environment and ensure Port Moody remains a green place to live. Action on Transit & Traffic We need action on transit and traffic in Port Moody. We need a Mayor who takes action to ensure buses connect with the new Skytrain line. Gridlock is increasing and it is time for action and leadership to unblock our streets. We often wait too long for buses to come, and we turn to cars for solutions. We need action at City Hall and a Mayor who will stand up for Port Moody. ![]() Travel builds character & broadens minds
