UN Peacekeeper In his first career, Gaetan Royer served Canada and the United Nations as a Military Engineer. He was awarded the Governor General’s Meritorious Service Medal for his 14 months of humanitarian work in Sarajevo during the 1992-95 war in Bosnia. 4 Wing Base Engineer Gaetan served 22 years in several positions across Canada. He is proud to have served 3 years as Base Engineer at CFB Cold Lake, Canada's largest military air base. 
Born in Quebec City, BC resident for 26 years, employed in Ontario, Alberta and Yukon. Gaetan's 3 careers exposed him to Canada coast to coast to coast.

Why I want to join the executive of the Senior Liberals Commission
I embrace past and present priorities of the Seniors Liberal Commission.
A Canadian known as the godfather of AI, Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton, advocated for AI guardrails that have yet to be erected. Canadian seniors collectively lost hundreds of millions to fraud in 2025, largely due to the increasing sophistication of online scams. The ability of AI tools to create believable scenarios and to establish emotional relationships with vulnerable persons is growing exponentially. Seeking to protect seniors from AI predators is one of many reasons I am actively involved in Liberal Party of Canada activities.
As a healthy and energetic senior, I trust that my experience leading strategic planning processes, and my communication skills in both official languages, will allow me to contribute positively to the SLC's mission as Communications Chair.
